Sample bequest language for the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation located in Portland, Oregon:
 

Unrestricted Gift: A gift that can be used where need is greatest
I give to the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation (EIN 93-1019725), a nonprofit 501(c)(3) corporation, currently headquartered in Portland, Oregon, the sum of $_______ for its general purposes.*
 

Gift for a Specific Purpose: A gift that is to be used for a specific purpose

Perpetual Endowment Fund: A gift that lasts in perpetuity

Rather than leaving a specific sum, you can include language that refers to a percentage of your estate or a description of the property you wish to give.

If the bequest is for a restricted purpose or to establish a named endowed fund we recommend that the following paragraph be added:

"If, in the opinion of the Board of Trustees of the Oregon Jewish Community Foundation, it should become impossible, inadvisable or impractical to use this gift for the specified purpose(s), then the Board may in its discretion use the gift for other purposes, keeping in mind the original wishes of the donor. In any such alternative application, the support provided by this bequest shall be clearly identified with the name of [donor's name]."
